Plastic Lens Buffing / Polishing Kit

$ 14.50 $ 13.50

This kit includes a 6" Loose Section Buff (1/2 Arbor Hole) and 16oz Plastic Compound. Recommended for use with this Wheel Arbor on a drill.

Scratches can be taken out easily without burning the plastic with this combination. The specially formulated plastic compound is the same one used by eye glass manufacturers to buff the edges of plastic eye glass lenses. This kit will remove most scratches and fog from headlight lens and will produce a shinny clear surface. Deep scratches, that this compound will not remove, will need to be sanded out. Start by cross hatch sanding with 180 or 220 grit and follow up with 400 grit. Then buff to remove the sanding marks. The ideal speed is 1800 RPM (less likely to burn), but it can be done at 3600 RPM. Rake the buff every 5 minutes to remove spent compound and stand or fluff up the buff fibers. The more fibers standing up, the more compound the buff can hold. Thus the more compound present, the less likelihood of burning the plastic because the compound acts as a lubricant between the buff and part.

This kit works great on CDs. Most of the time a scratched CD can be buffed out with this kit to revive your CD.
