6" Sisal Buff

Sisal buffs are great for cutting ( Stainless Steel and Steel parts when used with a greasy fast cutting gray/black emery compound such as the #1013 Emery Cake, #1010-SS47G Emery Fast Cut, and #1010 Emery Gray compounds.  Sisal buffs are not generally used on soft metal like aluminum, brass or copper because these metals do not require that much cut.

This is a firm buff made from woven Sisal like what is used to make rope, binders twine and rugs/door matts.  Our 6" sisal buffs are made from layers/plies of sisal and cotton muslin for a total of 15 plies. There are 8 layers of cotton muslin and 7 layers of sisal with a cotton ply between each layer of sisal.  The cotton holds on the compound better than the sisal and generates a better cutting action.  Thus an "all" sisal buff will need compound applied every 15-20 seconds but if there is a cotton ply between every layer of sisal, the cotton will help hold compound and decreases the compound application to every 20-25 seconds.  

This buff also has 1/4" spaced stitches which hold the buff together tighter than 3/8" or 1/2" spacing which most import and lighter duty buffs have.   

All these features combined make a well made, firm and long lasting Sisal Buff.

This sisal buff with the compounds above will buff out 400 grit sanding lines "if" you have enough horse power and the 6" buff is spinning 3600 RPM's
